DESCRIPTION:Morning Schedule at the War Memorial:\n10:00 am: The Town Crier reads the proclamation, calling people to gather at the War Memorial.\n10:30 am: Attendees assemble at the War Memorial on Broad Street in Harleston.\n\nWelcome by the Harleston & District Branch Royal British Legion\nA D-Day Prayer is offered.\nA tribute is paid to Harleston soldier Edward Jack Warden.\nWreaths are laid, and prayers are said.\nPupils from the Harleston Sancroft Academy recite the French poem ‘Chanson d’automne’ followed by the English translation.\nThe Last Post is played, followed by a minute of silence.\nPupils from the Harleston Sancroft Academy recite the D-Day Heroes Poem.\nPrayers are offered.\nConclusion.\n\nActivities Throughout the Day:\nThe Harleston Museum is open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, offering visitors a chance to explore local history including the friendly invasion of the Americans.\nSchools will read the poem “D-Day Heroes” in school at 11:00 am.\n\n\nNational Fish and Chip Day celebrations, we encourage you to enjoy fish and chips at the Market Place and Recreation Ground.\nSchools will feature Fish & Chips on their lunch menus.\nChurch Bells to be rung at 6:30 pm ‘Ringing out for peace’.\n\nEvening Activities at the War Memorial:\n9:00 pm: Attendees gather once again at the War Memorial.\n9:15 pm: The Town Council Chair reads ‘The International Tribute’ and lights the ‘Lamp of Peace.’\n9:30 pm: Evening activities conclude, allowing participants to reflect on the significance of D-Day and pay their respects.\n
