Come and stay at The Old Bakery in the beautiful South Norfolk countryside. You’ll find us in the Waveney Valley village of Pulham Market, just 10 minutes away from the country market towns of Diss and Harleston. Pulham Market is a small but perfectly formed, quintessential Norfolk village, with traditional Village Green, charming period cottages, thatched roofs, two pubs and beautiful scenery.
The perfect location for a short break with beautiful countryside on the doorstep, plenty to do nearby and the lively city of Norwich with an abundance of live entertainment venues, historic architecture and excellent shopping a short drive away.
Easy to get to, The Old Bakery is just an hour and 40 minutes from J28 of the M25 and the same travel time takes you from the mainline station at Diss to London Liverpool Street.
This is a delightful listed building, with wattle and daub walls and a timber frame, exposed internal beams and bags of character. Dating from 1580, The Old Bakery was initially established in the reign of Queen Elizabeth I as the main bakery for the Pulhams, although the last baker retired in 1951. The building has been in continuous use for more than 400 years, as a bakery, a restaurant and now as a home to the current owners, Jim and Theresa, and a boutique bed and breakfast. From 2021 this beautiful home is also available as a self-catering holiday let should guests prefer to book the whole house and be fully independent.
The Old Bakery has four spacious en-suite bedrooms, private parking for guests, and a delightful garden complete with Garden Room. The large, comfortable lounge / breakfast room features a small library, piano, exposed beams, and a beautiful fire making this a warm and cosy retreat in winter and a cool haven in summer.
Please note that we do not accommodate children under 16 years of age or dogs in the bed and breakfast however, this does not apply to self-catering holiday lets.
